My name is Ms. Joni (which most children still refer to me as) and I'd like to welcome you to my Family Home Childcare and tell you a little about myself and my business. I have over 35 years of experience with children, starting with babysitting jobs as young as eleven, later on with 2 children of my own and eight years experience as a former home daycare owner in Indiana. I've been married to my husband for 24 years this past June and mother to two children, a daughter, 21 and son, 15. I have been a registered provider of a Family Child Care Home in the State of Maryland for 3 years.

I've been fingerprinted, background checked, have completed the required educational classes required by both county and state, and currently hold CPR and First Aid certification. I am a member of several child care online support groups. These are support groups and learning experiences for providers to use. I will shortly become a member of the local Childcare Resource and Referral agency. Outside of the child care profession, I have been and still am a PTA member and volunteer at my son*s school once a month as a chaperone at his evening dances, have been a former PTA President in Indiana, former Girl Scout Brownie Troop Leader and have recently volunteered at the local Red Cross Organization in helping with the relief efforts for hurricane Katrina.

Above is part of someone else's family, below is my funny family and an extra.  My daughter's hand is linking her boyfriend's arm !  I dressed us in outfits that best depicted our personalities!!!

The Childcare Provider

I don't wear power suits, make speeches or drive a fancy sports car.
I've never talked on a car phone, made a big sale, or been elected to the senate. I don't "do lunch", have a big impressive office, or carry a beeper.
I spend my days wiping away tears, giving hugs, and serving chickie nuggets.
A good day is when I go a whole 9 hours without a temper tantrum, bite mark or a toilet training accident.
My office is a room full of brightly colored toys and laughing children.
You may not think that what I do is very important and you may even whisper behind my back "What a waste of a good mind" but I know better.
I make a difference because I'm changing the world one child at a time.
Everyday I'm getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to touch the future. I'm proud to say
"I'm a Child Care Provider"
